Have you been to North of the Border? They have really good prices on tune ups. Like 35 bucks and up. You should hit them up. They are the only guys I have work on my bikes.

All I gotta say is don't be a cheap ass and "true" your brakes. Just buy new ones. There are plenty of places at Mammoth that you'll want your brakes working as good as possible.

And send a PM to Bjammin. My bike is in his garage right now.

Thats funny I just dropped my bike off at Soul cycles http://www.soulcyclesec.com/ because of an upcoming Mammoth trip and my list is about the same.

I have had great service in the past. If your in the east county Rancho San Diego (near the steal bridge) its a great shop and every time I've been in there the owner is always the one to greet you.

We are going to be riding the lifts August 15th and Rock Creek on the 16th, any other treaders that weekend?

Are you talking about the rotors? Sorry, I'm mechanically retarded also.

Someday I'd like to be halfway proficient rather than taking the bike into the shop.

Totally agree!! Just get new rotors/discs. Dont try to true them up, you will just end up screwing yourself over..

Similar to wheels, it depends on how bad the bend - wobbled or taco'd. I've had good luck using the Park tool to fix the wobbly ones.

If they have high mileage I would say yes. If its fairly new I would just bend it back to where its straight. Thats cheap old me though

Good tool for the trails or back-country repairs.
For just 1 penny more than the price of the tool of $17.99, you can get new AZTEC rotor for $18.00.

I would say to take either of the following options:

Buy a new bike or give jonathan_sykes81 a buzz.

As for your Fox, if you just simply follow the step by step instructions found on their website ( with video clips ) or the manual, you will achieve that buttery smooth feel very easily. Just follow the recommendations there and you are all set. for the rest, see Darryl.
