Im getting parts together for the Chumba Evo I am building and wanted to get your opinions and words of wisdom on the last few pieces I need. I just need a few drivetrain parts which there doesnt seem to be too much info floating around as far as what people use and what blows. Current XC bike has XTR stuff which I believe I am going to leave on it unless someone thinks it is the way to go.

Left to get:
Rear derailer
Chain
Cassette
Shifters (has to be Sram if I get a Sram RD...right?)

I have an XT front e-type der. already which came with the frame.
I remember reading in another thread that SRAM was the way to go for shifters and the rear derailer. At this point I am a tad over budget as far as what I wanted to spend so I am not looking at top of the line anything for these last few pieces. I just dont want to buy the wrong thing or something that is going to give me alot of headaches.
I have located all of these on Jenson for what seems to be a fair price. Let me know which ones I need to not waste my money on
sram pc-951 9sp chain $15
sram x7 rear der. $39
sram pg950 Cassette $24
shifters ?

Thanks for your help

I am running SRAM and XT as well on my Chumba XCL. I have the X-9 shifters with a XT E-type FD and a X-9 RD. Works great. If you can swing it go for the X-9 shifters and RD. I like them better than the X-7 stuff. Shifting feels more precise IMO. What cranks are you running? I am using a medium cage RD with a 2 ring/bash up front. Don't forget your cable kit as well.

Shifters - $89

Rear Derailleur - $69

Cable/Housing kit - $25

Everything else should be fine. Good luck.

X9 is worth it. Definitely recommend it. Also, you might want to look at either an XT or 990 level cassette unless you want to chew up your freehub body(fb). Those both have an alloy carrier for the first 6 cogs which prevent it from digging into your fb. The lower one have individual cogs all the way and will dig into the fb.
