Proper TQ is essential on carbon parts and high stress parts. I used to never do it, then I started wrenching on Aircraft.

No, it is a Shimano XT shifter scar. Once the carbon fiber has been compromised it is finished. And breaking a handlebar is the last thing I want. That is a mistake I'd pay for in flesh. I'm not happy it happened, but I'm glad that I looked at it before hanging it on my new rig.
