My good friend Nick (hncreature) turned me on to your board so I thought I'd do my part to add to the madness.

A little background:

From '90 to '98 I was really into cycling, mostly road, until around '95 when I started getting dirty and it was full throttle from there. In 2001, for a variety of reasons, I sold everything and got involved in other things....Enter my friendship with Nick in 2006 and the fever is back at an all time high, much like it once was. Unfortunately, due to economic reasons, I haven't made the the jump back in with a new purchase and getting fully geared up. It's my hope that sometime in the summer that may come to fruition. :bang:

In the meantime, I thought I'd join you monkeys and with any luck, add to the hysteria. Anyway, that's my version of hello and look forward being part of the crew.

I don't know what type of bike you want to get but I highly recomend you to check out the San Diego Velodrome swap meet on the 19 in Balboa Park.
Even if you get an used hardtail while you save for your dream bike or whatever you get come and join us on a ride.

I agree with baja -- look for a decent used bike, buy a helmet, and start riding partially geared up (if by fully geared you mean all the pads, full-face helmet, bike racks, pumps, tools...) -- the weather's great -- have fun as soon as you can and save up / look for good deals on the better stuff later.
