Dan, that sucks, let me know if you need anything. Maybe they will recommend ridng at some point since cycling distributes weight around instead of up and down.

Hey Dan, sorry to hear about your injury. But at least you were doing something cool when you got hurt, not like falling down the stairs drunk or something.

Everything I hear about hip replacements (my wife works with old people) is to find a surgeon who is proficient at anterior replacements. The recovery period is greatly reduced and you have less of a chance to come out with one leg longer than the other. Lots of other benefits as well.

Hope you're back on the bike soon and let us know how you're doing along the way.

Brian

Dude....I wish you well, what a tuff break, jeez.
This kinda proves my theory, the young guys jump up n dust off, we old guys break and displace stuff. Hmmm, paging dirtmonger, I need body armour!

Get well as soon as you can, Dan. At least you'll enjoy plenty of good Scotch (not like you wouldn't anyway, eh?)

Young guys can break too, learned that the hard way a long time ago. It does take a bit more kinetic energy though. ;)

Rough news, Dan. Hope you heal quickly and with minimal pain, and I'll keep checking in to see when your springtime "back on the bike" ride will be. I wouldn't miss it.

ha, ha. yeah, guess pete is a go big or go home sort of guy, and that drop was huge, so yeah, different magnitude. kinda wondering about the surgeon though, if pete was happy with him or not. besides, if he could get pete back up and going, dan's issue should be a cake walk.......for the surgeon that is.

Oh yeah, I don't even like to THINK about Pete's hip injury, so I won't describe it. Suffice it to say that, unlike me, there was never even a thought that he might walk out. I've been inspired by his recovery every time I ride with him.
