I have a Giant TCX and Love it! I use it for my daily commute to work, long weekend road rides and on easier trails. A CX bike is like owning a rally car, you can ride on the road, but handles great off as well. Its a great versatile bike.

The Pinarello got away, he got 1000.00 for it. But I am intrigued, I've been looking a cross frames, and have more questions. I've seen a few cross frames with disk brake tabs and 135mm rear spacing, could I run 29er disk wheels and skinny tires, or is that kind of defeating the point? Do they make road spaced 700c disk wheels? Do I even want disk brakes on a cross bike?

If you are planning on riding eliete-level UCI sanctioned cross races, disc brakes are a no-no :?

Beyond that, want? Probably, disc brakes are cool. Need? Probably not.

I always thought the poprad was pretty awesome with its disc brakes.

If I lived in Seattle, Portland or a rainy city and used it as a commute bike, disc brakes would be on my list of priorities.

I've never much needed discs on the cross bike I use for commuting and I descend Via Capri (back side of Soledad) regularly on it. I think via capri tops out at 17% with shitty pavement at the top and a hairpin turn on to shitty pavement on the bottom. Cantilevers have worked fine so far.

I guess my real question is, how hard is it going to be to find 135mm spaced, 700c wheels? Will 29er wheels be a good option. I sorta like the 29er idea, with disk brakes, I don't see me doing much UCI racing, and stopping power is important, when dodging traffic. Maybe, cantis and 700c for the road and 29er with disks for the dirt. And yea Lito, I'm all about the flat bars, and baggy shorts, and hairy legs. :bang:
