We had 9 Treaders today...
Singleminded, Phonger, JJ The Whale, Mike Kim, Dirty Boo, EMFC, DirtMonger, Steve, and myself...Red Hot Sloth.
We get out to The Pioneer Mail lot and we were missing one confirmed rider...EMFC.
Luckily Singleminded had his cell number so we gave a call and he said he was on Sunrise Highway. He pulled into the lot pulling a brodie in a cloud of dust (j/k).
We headed out and rode towards the Noble Canyon Trail Head and took the turn onto the BLT. We came across some other riders who to me seemed less than gracious sharing the trail, but whateva, I still had a blast. We came to the Big Laguna Lake and it was parched and filled with cows and I think bulls, but some of these bulls had horns and udders, were they heremaphrodite bovines? Was there some wierd transgendered bovine experimental around there, or is it normal for male cows to milk? I don't know, just a little odd.
Anyhow, we had a couple flats and a serious mechanical. It seems that JJ The Whales legs are so powerful and mighty he ripped his RD in half!! Not the hanger mind you but the RD itself was obliterated...crazy.
There was some blood, so I must thank the Treaders who bled for giving back to Mother Earth...Blood Makes The Grass Grow. I appreciate your contribution.
Thewre was laughter and there was pain. Yeah, we climbed pinball, the way it was meant to be ridden, I mean c'mon, anyone can ride down it right?!
The weather was just about perfect. When we got back to our vehicles it was 84 degrees. The entire ride was breezy.
I need to thank everyone for coming out and riding our Not La Costa Ride this weekend. Everyone did a great job, especially the guys that haven't ridden at elevation before, big kudos to you. I am totally impressed with Dirty Boo's riding today, she railed the descents and climbe very well, I think it is safe to say she has recovered exceptionally well from her broken leg and acl tear from last year. This year (january) she was given clearance from her surgeon to do some light riding....great recovery mamma!!!
DirtMonger, I hope you drank plenty of fluids and ate a bunch-0-protien when you got home, man you must have sweated a few gallons in the ff and gear and dark clothes, but mo-powa to ya bro!!!
Singleminded...what can we say about his fitness....anyone want to add their own verbage to try and describe his masochistic tendancies?
Mike Kim...smiles the whole ride, gets pretty for the camera, and rode quick and true, great riding as usual Mike.
EMFC, another masochist on SS, climbing pinball like it was a Flatlanders Smoothfest or something...nice!!!
Steve and Phonger, our heros who gave to Mother Earth, we will have safe trails and our crops will be bountiful thanks to your selfless acts of giving blood, thanks again brotha's.
I had a fantastic time today, I hope you all enjoyed the ride and scenery as much as I did. It was well worth the drive for this ride today.
I have wrote enough drivel for now, so onto some pics....

I almost forgot:
We rode 14.21 Miles
And had a total elevation gain of 1658ft
Not too shabby.
Our starting elevation was 5200ft, climbing to 5579ft, and dropping to 5000ft as our lowest piont. So we were for the most part hanging right around a mile of elevation for the day...mmm fresh air.

Yeah great ride, but the climb was brutal! To answer your question Jose, I was coming fast around a corner, hit a sandy spot, wiped out and went off the bike and trail, and hit a tree stump with my arm. Better my arm than my head.

Oh yeah, muchos thanks to Sloth for playing the thankless role of sweeper.

Dirty Boo, Nice pics as usual. You have an exceptional eye for seeing and taking good shots. I like the above pic which I hope is your tree and sky BW composition.. You were also riding great, faster than last week!

Thanks guys for a great ride. Seems that all had a reasonably good time. Phonger hugged a log... while barreling down the hill. Good it was only a bruise. It is great to ride with such a nice group, knowing you will not be left in the dust, even by those that seem to breeze effortlessly up the hill in the single gear they have. I don;t know how you do it, singleminded, but it was quite humbling. Especially as pushing my bike seemed like the only way to go for me. I'll work my way up... maybe I'll catch up with you on the downhills some day.
