^^^ Good video Matt. I hadn’t seen that one. Well, only six responses to this poll — surprised but not surprised. I think we only have about that many people active on DT now.

You can buy a fair number of bikes now in mullet configuration, or ready for it. I think *IF* you have a bike designed to accommodate either or mixed wheel sizes, give it a try. Both my bikes were designed to run either size, and that was a factor in choosing them.

Mulleting my Kona 27.5+ bike was easy and gave immediately positive results, with no apparent negatives. It makes sense that putting a 29 on the front of a 27.5 offers clear benefits. I’d recommend that.

Mulleting my 29 Switchblade was not so clear cut at first and I had mixed (haha) feelings. Even with a flip chip, the climbing suffered. But by the third ride I’d made successful cockpit adjustments to compensate: slid the saddle forward a bit, rotated the bars forward some, and lastly removed a stem spacer from under the handlebar. That did the trick and I’m very happy with it now. It feels better and faster on tight twisty stuff and rough descents, and still climbs well. The benefits are clear, especially for a shorter rider like me. However, I can foresee swapping the 29 rear wheel back in for something like long days on fast-rolling trails.
