As many of you know, our very own Skywalker has been racing in the Quick and Dirty series (I have too, but thats a whole nother story).

Last night was the last of the 8 race series. Points for the series were tallied by taking each racers best six finishes. Going into last nights race Skylar was sitting in second place (they had only dropped one score at that point) by 2 points. So it was on Skylar to win or at least finish ahead of the other kid. From my position (struggling to stay alive and finish) it looked like it would be interesting. Within the first 1/4 mile one kid (not in the points) passed me with a good 10-15 second lead over Slylar and his nemesis. That seemed odd, almost like he started to soon, but whatever the race is scored on time. On my start of lap 4 (I think) i was at a spot where I could see the kids again, Skylar was a couple bike lengths in front of his nemesis.

Once I finally managed to survive my way back to the finish and find everyone, I heard that Skylar crossed the line behind the first kid, but in front of his nemesis. A little later results were posted and because Skylar finished with the fastest time, he was in first. Well, first until the other kid protested that he finished first and that timing must be wrong. I still don't understand the logic, but Skylar was fastest, the kid with the 3rd fastest time, but crossed the line first (ie, started sooner) was given the win. So Skylar was robbed of his win, but he went home knowing he was the fastest rider.

Now to the season points, what does this do??? Instead of a win, Skylar takes a 2nd, and his nemisis a 3rd. The tally is Skylar three wins, two seconds, a third and two fourths. So the two fourths drop. His nemesis has two wins, four seconds and two thirds. He drops the two thirds. A first gives 50 points, second 49, etc. So the points tally is 296 for Both!!!! From there the number of wins becomes the tie beak, so the series win goes to Skylar!!!!!!

Great job pulling through for the win..

That was a cool play by play write up by Matthew. Yes the QnD is over and I had a blast racing it. I am excited about my overall first place finish that came down to the very last race. I want to thank all my dirt treader buddies for all their support (i.e. Pete/Susie for the lucky dirt treader jersey (wore it every race I won), Orvan for all the pressure training (2nd place was on my tail the whole race), Fred and everyone who donated the wheels (it made a big difference), Matthew for all the on the track support, Rod for the QnD entry help and track input, and everyone else (Don, Old Dog Dan, Harley, Kimba and everyone else who has had input in my training, for their weekly words of wisdom training and support). Now I can get back to my Tues/Thurs and weekend rides to get ready for the next race. Oh yea, I would like to thank my pit crew (my Dad and Mom).

Skylar

Sick! From the first few times I rode with you, I knew it was just a matter of when.
I hope you stick to it.

Now, be nice to this old geezer on the climbs, will ya?
