D.Will the plan was a lighter, race type wheel set; most stock wheel sets are about the same. Don't want to turn down a good wheel set, maybe we could auction it here or CL it. What do you think?

Could you post some pics? If anyone wants to purchase the wheel-set, they could do so by donating to the race fund.

Would you be kind enough to tell us about the wheels, we know they work on a Nomad C. Thanks.
Anyone looking for a wheelset can pick these up fairly cheap by making a contribution to the sponsorship fund.

They're Mavic EN321's on Shimano SLX hubs. 15mm front 142X12 rear.
I need to to go look but I think they're center lock hubs.

They have less than a dozen rides.

You guys might think about setting some kind of reserve price on them so you know what minimum amount you'll get.

I see what looks like this wheelset priced at $247 new. Can you post in classified with the necessary info, just pretend you're trying to sell the wheel and give a perspective buyer all necessary info, how the disc are attached would be apart of that, please. I try to offer parts at about 50 % off. I think anything close to $100 would be appropriate if my research was correct. Thanks again.

Its great to know people are thinking of Skywalker and willing to help out.
Heres just a sample of my take on this.

1. He has a great bike, with quality components. I think focusing on technique, cardio and training to be a more effective means rather than take an easier route of "going lighter" as a way to improve times.
2. Is someone other than Skywalker going to benefit from this, if so, why? There should be no "middle man" profiting from this.
3. Of the money that has been contributed towards Skywalkers "sponsorship" I don't believe components are the way to go. I think it should go towards helping cover costs of fuels and meals getting to and from events for pops.
4. We have a few attorneys here, if its out of line for me to ask you this, sorry. But do you think you could look into what is involved in maintaining an AMATEUR status, things like accepting sponsorships, gifts, moneys.

These are just a couple things that have run through my mind, theres more I can elaborate on but maybe in a different thread.

I think young Skywalker is a great rider and a great kid, he's absolutely stoked on riding, he pushes most of us up and down the hills, he has talent, gumption, a great attitude and a cool pops.
Theres a lot to think about when it comes to sponsoring, the effect(s) it has, the origin of the idea, the good, the bad, the implications an idea has that could change the course of a young padawans life journey in the mt bike scene.

Not trying to be a downer in the thread, just want to keep things in perspective.

Been waiting for this, what took you so long? When I have a part that cost $400 and I offer it at $200, where is the gain for me? I sold that part last week for way over $200. Put the personal issue aside brotha, for I don't nickle and dime friends; I've given way more than I have recieved from this group, for Jah has blessed me with some knowledge and a little business sense about bicycles and I'm not attached to anything material; I flip a fucking bike in a minute; whannah buy a Giant? You couldn't pay me for the time I've put into this bro. This is your house and if you want to evict me,go right ahead. I can read you like a book, that's why I didn't manage the money.

Agree with RHS on the costs of racing, hence my commitment to defray entry costs to QnD events.

FYI - the summer series will be 8 events - all on Wednesday evenings. First is in late May, 3 in June, 4 in July. May and June events are at South Hodges - courses are likely to change event to event to keep it fresh. July is in still being firmed up.

edit . . . and no, I have zero financial stake in QnD races. All my time is pure volunteer effort. I've assisted with other local grass roots racing events also but QnD is just the best fit for me.

A good set of race wheels is still a wise move though in my mind. I'm a 29er guy so can't help you there.

Well, it looks like this attempt at a good deed is quickly turning to shit.

Sorry Fred, you have a very good idea to help.

I'll tell you what I'll do to remove any possibility that someone might think that I'm in some way benefitting personally from this.

$100.00 minimum donation gets the wheel set. The money goes directly to whomever is handling the donations. The money for the wheels goes to that person by PayPal only, when I get a PM with a copy of the PayPal verification I'll hookup with whomever donated for them and deliver the wheels.

Don't know why this has to get so f'd up, maybe there's something I don't know.
I don't really care, I'd just like to help out and don't want to be accused of somehow "profiting" from offering help where I can.
