I think this can be applied to both hikers, and mountain bikers. Many times my bear bell becomes useless when the hiker or mountain biker is wearing headphones.

Yep I totally agree!! I've had dumbasses that had both earbuds in and couldn't hear my cowbell either. I think people need to have atleast one ear open "nothing in them" so they can hear there surroundings. Whether it is a hiker, biker, etc... I can go on forever but yeah I'll keep it at that. People need to be aware of there surroundings.

So its 47 deaths world wide according to the article? That hardly seems like its worth the time or money spent to study it.
