Well,, I am broke but cant take the spine-compactor anymore. I went on Ebay and Alas: Offered $425 and got it, brand new oem, free shipping, 3 yr warranty. XL frame which weighs 7 lbs, is that heavy? Will switch my HT components over. Any suggestions?
Is the Manitou Rear shock any good? Guess I'lll find out

sweet! did you get a new fork too?

if you need help, there are a few of us around here with tools. i have bb socket and crank remover. i have some home-made headset tools.

for cables, i highly recommend the avid flak jacket. they're like 16 bucks at beyond.

No Fork, the one on my HT will have to do for a month or so. I am definitley gonna need help. I can do all the easy stuff, but the BB and head tube fork stuff i will need help on. I really apreciate the offer and may take you up on any help you can spare. RHS has offered as well but I know he is busy these days. It should be here in a week.

FYI- other broke hardtailers! there are 4 more left on ebay, all XL. It says $499 buy it now, choose the "make an offer" button, I entered 425 and got it. (Search KHS frame)

I've got all the tools and plenty of experience if you need some help. Most of your components will transfer without a problem, the only things are that are frame specific are front derailleurs, seatposts, hubs, and sometimes headsets and cranks. Just make sure that your front derailleur is the right style and size, and your seatpost is the right size. Just from seeing your bike before I know that your wheels are good to go. Have fun!

rhs suggested this, and i'm seeing the new squshy as a perfect project.

he (rhs) was saying we should do a sort of bike repair class or whatever. we should all get together with tools somewhere and help do the parts transfer. There are a few elements of bike repair that could be covered here.

What do you guys think? Where could we do this?

my place wouldn't work either. i was thinking we could do this at a park (provide we could get by on battery power). the dixon lake area would be perfect and then after the work is done, we could all hit daley ranch. they have big covered patio areas...

Congrats jj. You will be very happy with your new ride.

RHS and I have discussed having the bike clinic at my house as I have a repair stand, lots of tools, ect. We also said it would be a good rainy day event to keep us off the trials and entertained with bikes. Not sure if you want to wait until it rains though, prolly not.

Feel free to PM me if you want to use the garage, my tools, ect.

This weekend I'll have time to help get you all squared away, but I'ma busy during the week. Sorry bro.
As far as the bike maintence clinic thing...I typed it all up friday as to how I thought we could go about it and was about to hit submit...I tapped something...I don't know what and it dissapeared...I was a little frustrated so I just shut down the puter and kicked the dog in the nuts.
I'll get it set-up for when rainy season hits so that we can do a little bbq and wrenching and learning from each other when we have the first rainy weekend of no riding. I figured that way we aren't giving up the real fun stuff for the kinda fun stuff J/K.
Kimba has been gracious enough to offer up his place for the proceedings...thanks Kimba for your hospitality.
Maybe later this week when I'm gonna be on the interwebs for a bit I'll post up and what-not.

I can provide a workstand and some assorted tools, including two torque wrenches. Also, one book (Zinn's roadbike book).
