Hey guys so i recently changed my brakes out put some xt's on my rig. My problem is that my front brake always gets vibration when I take the wheel off and put it back on at first I thought I just needed to adjust the calipper, it helps but after I take the wheel off and put it back on it happens again. Do any of you guys know what I can do to fix this.

Rotate the pads. Front --> Back and vice versa. Worked for me.

If you have the Gold Pads (those are the sintered pads and can squeal or vibrate). The reds are softer and less prone to do this.

Most likely but they're cheap up at bike bling. I've been running my XT's now for a few months, I thought they would be pretty nice but finding out that they develop the same problems as Avids. Howling and vibrating. Try avoiding water or getting debris and water in there where it gouges the rotors -- you'll never get rid of the noise once that happens.

I use XTs... I had the same issue. Replaced the pads, re-aligned and sanded down the rotors and it went away.

If it happens every time you take on and off your front wheel it definitely sounds like a alignment problem. Maybe use a spacer when you transport.

you might have bought a set with metallic brake pads. i have metallic brake pads in my xt brakes as well but they only howl and vibrate upon application of the brakes when they are cold. the howling and vibration dissipates after the first 2-3 squeezes. try shimano organic pads. they are much quieter but tend not to grab as well as the metallic ones especially during wet/muddy conditions. personally, i prefer the metallic pads myself. they provide stronger braking and last longer.

My XT brakes squeek like crazy... Anyone had that problem? I have tried sanding them and cleaning the rotors.

Thanks for the tips on the pad colors - I had no idea what the difference was.
