Bike(s): 2011 Santa Cruz Tallboy
Favorite Trails: Sycamore, Daley Ranch
Hi,

My name is Mike and I am new to the board. I have been riding for quite a while, from the singletracks of Santa Cruz to the forest and snow of upstate New York on my trusty 1991 rigid Stumpjumper. I have been back in San Diego for a number of years, but gave up mountain biking for road riding. I recently re-discovered my love for mountain biking and have been back riding and racing (in the back) since the Fall. Unfortunately, most of my friends like the couch more than burning your quads. That brought me in search of this board.

I would love to hear about any meet-ups for weekend rides or after-hours rides. If you don't mind waiting a little bit on the downhills for my ancient bike! Well, until my Tallboy arrives in a week or two (backordered)!

I am in North County and usually ride La Costa, Elfin and Daley Ranch but would love to try some new spots to the East or elsewhere. Anyway, this looks like a great site!

Cheers

Mike

Welcome fellow ancient rigid Stumpy owner!

Mine's an '88 and still gets occasional use. Sure put a lot of miles on it in the Cuyamacas back in the day. Biopace forever!

There are plenty of rides throughout the county from beginner to advanced that our riders post up.
Usually, unless its posted as an "advanced" ride, all levels of ridersare welcome, no one gets left behind.
We (friends and I) usually hit up the north county trails such as Calavera, La Costa and Daley on most rides and get out of the immediate area once or twice a month. Some of the members will do only out of the immediate area rides. They sure do provide some sweet Treader Reports!
Just keep an eye on the calander and have fun.

:welcome:

That was the result of the Tunnel of Love at Hurkey creek. Impaled myself (nearly) on a tree branch! Hurkey is a great place to ride, but the old brakes didn't like the rapid change in surface during that stretch. The exfoliator section was a ton of fun on a rigid mountain bike  ! I was back riding two days after at La Costa, but took it easy on the downhills. ha ha.
