Brett brought up a solid idea today after our ride at La Costa Trails. As of now we have this place set-up as our every saturday ride, but Brett suggested maybe we can do a different place once in awhile on these saturdays.
So, once a month on our saturday rides we can poll a different trail system to ride that is friendly to all rider levels...
I'll start it out. Things we need to consider...
1. All rider experience capability level must be able to enjoy
2. Location due to climate during any particular season, ie: heat, rain, snow, etc
3. Drive time
4. Multi-use popularity on weekends..a 2hr ride could turn into a 5 hr because of
Hikers and equestrians.

If anyone can think of other things to consider please post them up.

So, 1st, 2nd and 3rd saturday of the month can be La Costa Trails. The 4th saturday of each month can be our jackpot ride.
The poll will list trails in that we can discuss, vote, pick and choose or whatever. If I didn't list a trail its not because I don't want to ride it, its just because I'm lame and forget lots of things, so please post up any trail you can think of.

We're going to do this so that we can ride different trails than we normally ride, you know...keep it fresh and spicy.

* You'll notice that I grouped some of them together even though they aren't the same trail systems. This is because we can only have 10 poll options, which is a pretty high poll number as it is....Cheerio!!

If it's an evening ride I can sometimes make it if I get off on time.

i voted for noble, because i havnt been there yet and i hear its better riding than anywhere else around here. Are we making this a once a month epic ride day? or more of an official monthly DT social/meet and greet ride like they do on the meetup group? If we're trying for the latter then maybe a more centralized point would be better since we're all so spread out. I'd then vote for lpq. its pretty much smack dab between Oceanside and Chula Vista. Should Sycamore canyon be up there too?

Yeah what he said

Pete said the poll only allowed for 10 entries, so i guess any other votes can be voiced verbally.

any way to gauge for temperature at noble/blt on sat 8/30?

Just to clarify...this ride that we vote to do on the 4th saturday of each month is not intended to be an "epic" ride, or even be at the same location every 4th saturday of each month. We can incorporate verbage to allow for this to be a meet and greet as well, but it doesn't necessarily need to be at a "centrilized" location. As for a centrilized location ride to be able to have "all" Dirt Treaders a chance to ride with each other, I think we can set that up as a seperate ride. Possible a quarterly thing, but definatly subject for a seperate poll and thread in itself, as incorporating it into this function would be much too confusing and not as easy to logistic as this. This is intended to keep our saturday rides exciting while introducing new trails to those of us who haven't ridden more than a couple of trail systems.
I think we should do a centralized ride as well. It is difficult for riders down south to come all the way north, and difficult for riders up north to travel all the way south, so LPQ would seem like an ideal location for that ride, but lets schedule that, and set that up as a completely diffiernt occasion other than our 4th saturday ride.

Well, we have 2 weeks to decide...

Noble is an awesome, allday basicallly epic ride as is SJT. Both places get plenty hot in the summer. Probably best as fall or winter rides.

LPQ is a good option as it is cool and close.

Elfin is sort of La Costa climbing on steriods, cool and close but crowded on Sat mornings.

I'm personally interested in Bonita as I've never been, but we need a guide for sure and it's far away for the north countians.

South Lake Hodges is often overlooked...

Mission trails is close but that place gets wicked hot.

Anderson TT is very exciting.

My thoughts.

Might be simple to pick rides out of a hat randomly for the 4th/Sat rides, grouping similiar trails (universal smileage) in said hat. Maybe same for the occasional gnarly ride?

I'm looking forward to this ride, this month I'm hosting a Meet Up ride and is also on the 4th Saturday of the month but since I already had it for 4 months I think is time for someone else to take over so this should be my last commitment with them.
When we we decide to have Chula Vista/Bonita trails as the Treaders ride of the month you don't have to worry about getting a guide, any of us (Amor, Randy or me) will be more than happy to show you around.

The Noble choice is grouped with a different trail system due to not enough poll options available. The system it is grouped with is..Indian Creek/Pine Mountain/BLT which is a fantastic ride, and being at elevation it isn't subject to as intense heat as Mid and Lower Noble are.
The Starting elevation is roughly 5200ft and rarely does it dip below the 3500ft elevation level meaning it is more of a comfortable ride than doing Noble in itself in the summer... Its a 14 mile ride with approximatly 2400ft of total elevation gain.

Just remember, some of the poll options are grouped together that are not the same trail systems. If we end up with most polls going to one off these poll options we will then hold another vote.....I know, sounds convoluted but I feel thats our most favorable option at the momoent with a limited #of poll options. Maybe Ldood can make it so there is more room for extra poll options....I don't know. I was just trying to keep it easy and light.
All this feedback is great, please keep it coming

How is Chula Vista this time of year? Or do I even need to ask?
