Well, shit, Dan! Bummer all around. You have a great attitude about this stuff, though, and that goes a long way. Count me in on the first ride back, too.

Heal up man! I'm there with you on the IR list right now. It's not the easiest thing in the world being off the bike for a while. But with a positive attitude and a couple side projects you'll do just fine.

I haven't been around here much lately, Dan, and this is the first I've heard about your injury.

Brace up. I too have Ti parts in my leg, ankle, and shoulder. The shoulder came at the tender young age of 55. You'll get better. Hip problems are among those that the Orthos are most proficient at. Just take yer time recovering. Stick to the schedule, and you'll do fine.

Healing vibes Dan!

I hear Mother Earth, Iron Fist and Aztec Brewing have a special elixir for healing broken bones.

Good news!

I am NOT going to post up the Xray that shows my junk.

Even better news!

Just got back from the orthopedic surgeon. No surgery needed! Although the acetabulum has multiple fractures, and some detached pieces, only one fracture line actually crosses the socket, and it is below the major weight-bearing area. Capable of healing on its own. So I'm to continue with non-weight-bearing crutch action for a couple more weeks, along with gentle stretching. Unlikely to have resultant future hip arthritis or other problems! Follow-up x-rays 2/14, and possible to be back on the bike in about two months.

I really want to thank you all for your support, and I'm really looking forward to seeing you for some springtime riding.

Dan

Dan, first I gotta say I love the new ted-head avatar. Looks kinda chilling!

Now, really, if you just wanted a few months off the bike and an excuse to drink and take drugs, you could've just said so. Folks here would understand. But to make up this whole story about a busted pelvis? Really, that's going a bit far, don't you think?

Well, anyway, enjoy the time off.

Dan,

So glad to hear that! I wish you a speedy and full recovery. Being out on the trails without running into you wouldn't quite be the same.

This kinda proves my theory, the young guys jump up n dust off, we old guys break and displace stuff. Hmmm, paging dirtmonger, I need body armour!
