you have been on the san luis rey river path before? the bit between santa fe and college is somewhat new. not many people know about or use that part.

I went out today, ment to do a 50 maaayyybe a 60 or so mile ride. I have done the route (I ment to do) once. So to be sure I made a note, put it in my pocket and took off. I did the part through Harmony Grove / Elfin Forest part fine. When I got to the corner of San Elijo and Santa Fe rd. I checked my note:... It melted. Damn! Here's the Bugs Bunny part; ya, you guesed it, I made a wrong turn at Alburquerque. and wound up in O'Side. As it turns out that was a 45mi., 2 1/2 Hour goof up. I'm pretty proud of myself (Not for goofing up the route, but finishing it). I even took pot shots at the kit wearing packs of ultra cool guys over on the Coast Hwy. I can't help myself. Your an animal. I took a wrong turn this morning and a 5mile hog hunting hike in the cleveland national forest turned into an 8miler. So are you wearing lycra yet? |

Solid ride, but I call bull shit....no one "accidentally" rides a century. You hit your bail out point and said "I'm feeling pretty good, F it" and kept going......well done

I swear there was at least an hour in San Marcos and Vista, where I had no clue where I was. But I knew O'Side was not too far and once I got there; I could get myself home, and the coast is flat, but infested with uber cool kit wearing people.. It is kinda accidental it turned out to be a 100 miles. I had to do a couple of laps around the neighborhood to reach the 100, but after that I was going to get the 100. Not only that, but I did it solo. A ride partner would have killed me. I would never, ever have set out to do that, but now that I have... Tour de Poway anybody? Cold Beer never tasted so good!!!!! |

Grats on the century.... i just did 90 miles total on the road bike for saturday and sunday last weekend ( with a scarberry rdr sighting by san elijo campground on saturday) and my legs were freaking hamburger. nice work!

your bike have compact cranks? Mine is 53/39 and on steep hills, can't keep up with those with compact cranks. I want to do a century sometime. Haven't done a 100 mile ride since 1991 when we rode from San Diego to San Francisco. |

I am all about the Compact Cranks (Chainrings). I think that the 50/34 is too small on the little chain ring, but a 50/36 is just right. And the gearing is still pretty close to my Mt. Bik,e so thats what I want. And I can climb things straight up, that other guys in the group need to zig zag up due to steepness. IMO the receational cyclest and the compact setup is a good match. |
