I know that not everyone cares about Data, but my engineering and car racing background make me a Data Junky!! But I know that some of you are closet techies and like to see the Stats!

So here's what my data shows from our ride this morning. Keep in mind, I pull this from my bike computer and MapMyRide App, NOT STRAVA!!!!!!!!!!

So first up Mapmyride GPS says we did 10.54 miles over about 2:47, maybe 2:30 as I started the time a bit before we actually went wheels dirty. This is total Running time including stops.

Bike Computer says 10.9 miles in 1:27, it stops the time when the wheels stop turning! From that data it says Average speed of 7.46mph and a Max Speed of 25.31.

Now a very interesting Stat is that we did 989 feet of Elevation gain, yet we only did one "CLIMB". A climb is defined as 3% for over 500m. Our "Climb" was 3.1% for 1.44 miles, with a gain of 240 feet. It started at 7.47 and ended at 8.92. This was basically the climb to the Pad from the Eucalypti (yes that is the proper Plural for Eucalyptus)

Oh and MapMyRide said I burned 1340 calories and the bike with heart rate said 1434. I'm going with the second, cause it means one more beer tonight!!!!!!!!!!!

Why not use Strava??

It's the best data source available.

Clearly, slow riders with limited abilities don't like it because it shines a pretty bright light on the fact that they're slow.

Aside from that lame reason for not liking Strava, it seems like the very best way for an engineer to collect, assess, and analyze data .

Why don't you use it?
