Care to share any thoughts on the longer wheelbase?

I'm considering a bandersnatch build, actually considering a bikesdirect fantom pro 29sl, stripping it and moving everything to a bandersnatch frame and going with 1x9 setup.

I'm a bit hesitant as I have read the Vassago has a bit of a longer wheelbase..
I'm not in a rush to get it, so the wait isn't a worry.

Thanks

Let me get a few more rides on it and I'll give you a better opinion, right now I am still in the honeymoon stage with the bike. I am however not in that stage w/ the Stans rims, I will never buy these again. What a pain in the ass.

OK.. So I have had my 29er for a while, but was too lazy to take some pics.. until now..

She is a Marin Alpine Trail, with a few mods: Juicy 7s with 203 rotors, SLX cranks thanks to Doug at NOTB.... Maxxis Ignitor tires, and XT skewers and WTB seat.

Nice ride!! I have just about the same build on my EMD, except mine is geared.

Nice build. I thought you changed to 100mm. To me that fork is still set at 80mm. BTW, is she single?

I did, but I had trouble with a seal popping off and when I finally did get it to work, I didn't like how it felt. It was a little high and lifted more when climbing. Also, it didn't leave much stand over height. I really like it at 80mm, and I can always experiment later. Oh, and by the way, you're not her type.

Barcy titled his Vassago new bike thread “I’m single and hard”.

Not to be outdone, I chose to build a bike up as “single, raw, and harder”. I also wanted to title this "one NOT bad ass bike"......not black (fail), no suspension(fail), and no gears but one (fail) :)

These pics were taken before I trimmed the brake cables (hope the retentive Robo sees them like this and has a coronary)……could not wait to ride it….you know how it is. I gambled on the full rigid and single speed concept and I think I won because I really like it. I started out 20 years ago on a full rigid Bridgestone MB-3. This brings back memories, and I forgot how fast a rigid rear end is. One really feels like they are “one with the trail” on a bike like this which is really exciting, and it is not as harsh as I worried it might be.

Thanks Barcy and Kreechan/Moondog for sharing your excitement of 29er SS and rigids respectively, and North of the Border for getting me set up with the Stan’s Flows/Hope wheelset, White Industries Eno crankset, etc. Thanks to all the other DT’s posting the gorgeous bike builds and sharing about SS like Darryl, etc.

First ride in Sycamore/Goodan…….picked my lines a bit more carefully down Martha’s, but still probably went down only minimally slower than the FS.

Damn Basil, that is a sweet bike and I love that fork! If I were to build another SS it would be a raw One9. Perfect for SJT.
